National Federation of Blind Uttarakhand

National Federation of the Blind Uttarakhand is the voice of the blind in Uttarakhand, it is associated with the largest self-help organization of the blind. It is founded on the philosophy “Let the Blind, Lead the Blind”. Some of the main objectives for which the Federation was established to strive for equality of opportunity for the blind in their education, training, and employment. To stimulate the provision of remunerative employment for the blind in all occupations which they can successfully practice.
To undertake or promote research, designed to stimulate progress in any aspect of the rehabilitation of the blind.
To cooperate with local, national and international agencies having objectives similar to those of the Federation or with likeminded individuals for such purposes as the Federation may deem fit.
To acquire, sell, mortgage or dispose of in any fashion such property as may be considered necessary or expedient for the efficient functioning of the Federation.
To establish branches in any part of the union of India on such terms as the Federation may decide from time to time.
To raise funds by subscriptions, donations, grant-in-aid, bequests or in any other form that the Federation considers appropriate provided that such method of raising funds does not contravene any provision of the law in force for the time being.
To do such other things as are incidental or conducive to the achievement of any or all of the above objects.

Training & Development Program

Personal Computer Training Certifcate programs for blind students with the fundamental technical knowledge and skills necessary to operate a personal computer for general use. They are made up of courses in basic computer operations and cover popular computer applications

The Federation has been running computer training centers in various states to develop the skill of blind members and prepare them to compete for government jobs. This initiative has yielded good results as a number of blind persons have been appointed in banks.

The Federation help to its members in getting the government jobs by approaching the Departments/Ministries/Autonomous Bodies to implement 3% reservation scheme in favor of persons with disabilities. The online application forms are filled up by the Federation free of charges.

In this era of Globalization, Liberalization and new Technological Development, the job opportunities in Govt. and Public Sector are minimizing day by day. To counter this situation the Federation has opened training and rehabilitation centers in different parts of the country. In these centers the blind persons are imparted training in various trades and later their skills are used in production centers where a number of items are prepared by the blind themselves. The items are later sold in market by the Federation. The trainees are also paid stipend during the training period. These training centers are also preparing the blind for starting their own self-employment ventures

Any blind or low vision person can apply on the prescribed application form for membership of Federation which will be examined by the membership committee constituted by National Executive Council
